Joanne VanBoven, 71, of Kenosha, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at St. Lukes Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Kenosha on Feb. 20, 1945, the daughter of Marinus and Hope VanBoven. Joanne was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Bradford High.
She was employed with the city of Kenosha as a Library Clerk for over 40 years retiring in 2005. She was a former member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church and participated in the Choir and prayer group, also a past member of the Kenosha Lioness Club. Joanne enjoyed reading and following the Green Bay Packers.
Surviving Joanne is her father, Marinus VanBoven of Kenosha; her sister, Margaret VanBoven of Kenosha; one brother, Thomas VanBoven of Horicon, Wis.; one step brother and sister, Carl (Marilyn) Sevey and Jean Sevey, both of Kenosha. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Hope, and brother, Richard VanBoven.
A visitation will be held at the Proko Funeral Home on Sunday, July 31, 2016, from 2 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. Interment will be held privately on Monday at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.  In Lieu of flowers memorials to the Kenosha Museum or to a charity of your choice .
